[CLOSED] Intelligent Information Systems for Data Management, Processes, Applications in E-commerce Environments

2023.10.18

The importance of data management, processes, and applications in E-commerce is dramatically increasing in organizations. The Internet and e-commerce technologies created new business models and ways to conduct business. Intelligent information management plays a vital role in E-commerce, especially in data management, process design, and application development. It forms the future of E-commerce. The current advancement of technology necessitates adapting to Intelligent Information Systems as they offer significant advantages to businesses, consumers, and enterprises. Information Systems have become critical for modern business management as they provide information essential to decision making, planning, coordinating, and control functions instrumental to the success of an organization. The system's function is to support and manage data and information, processes, applications, and knowledge in the e-commerce environment. First, Intelligent Information Systems are dynamic and can quickly respond to customer needs, changes in business conditions, and changing competitive settings. Secondly, Intelligent information systems allow businesses to identify market patterns by collecting and analyzing vast amounts of customer data in real-time. Thirdly, it will enable companies to create targeted marketing campaigns, thereby reducing expenses incurred from customer acquisition and retention strategies based on traditional television, print media, and radio ads. Also, it helps to reduce transaction costs and cost per sale.

Today, enterprises are seeking to enhance their capacity to achieve productivity and efficiency in their processes and transactions with the help of business intelligence. For a business, keeping data intact and handling massive amounts of data every day is one of the biggest challenges. This instance also creates several complexities, such as how easy it is to retrieve required data instantly without any delay and errors. Tools applied in intelligent information systems play an essential role in designing e-commerce systems that can support business operations and processes. These systems are smart tools for managing large and complex pools of data. They include methods for search, discovery, analysis, visualization, and extraction of useful information from data sources that may be highly heterogeneous and distributed. Intelligent information systems have their knowledge bases with real-world information integrated from many data sources to provide better solutions for users. Further, these systems could help business processes and could be used to improve data and information quality in decision-making processes at the enterprise level.

This special issue explores the importance of data management processes and applications in E-commerce. Researchers are most welcome to present their innovative contributions.
